During the cold weather the skin and the health suffer, but hair, eyes and nails also suffer from harse cold wind, rain or snow and central heating which all take their toll on these areas of the body.

During the warmer weather heat, UV rays and air conditioning also take their toll on skin, hair, eyes and nails.

Fact is our eyes, nails, neck and hair are 10% drier than the rest of the body due to lack of sebaceous glands in these areas and therefore demand extra attention... all through the year! As we age these needs are accentuated!

So what does it mean when people speak about about natural hair care products?
Hair care products that are advertised "natural" may probably mean products that are free from chemical substance or may also be environmentally friendly, with plant and/or herbal additives or extracts in their ingredients.

How do you choose natural hair care products?
When purchasing hair care products please read the labels and make your own decisions on what level of "natural" ingredients you wish to accept in the hair care products that you use on your hair. This is the most responsible way to select the best products for you.

The best way to ensure only ingredients you want in you hair (or in fact anywhere on or in your body) is making it yourself... CUSTOMISE!

Below are essentials needed to keep hair, nails and eyes at their best...

Water - Essential to every cell in the body to promote proper cell function and metabolism. Water also acts as a catalyst in many functions in the body. Water - H2O / Water For Health - Aids weight loss, Speeds healing . .

Rest - Essential for healing, restoration and growth in general and specifically for skin, nails and hair.

Exercise - Essential for introducing oxygen into the body, elevating endorphins (good for happy hair), aids elimination of toxins through sweat and breathing

Styling - Try to air dry as much as possible and save the blow dryer for special occasion. Hairdressing aids are best kept as natural as possible to avoid static; product build up; dull & limp hair; attracting dust and dirt to the hair, drying hair.

AVOID STRESS - We have all heard so much recently on how much adverse effects stress have on the body and our health. What adversely affects our body adversely affects our hair. Anything that puts your body into stress mode will ultimately over time affect your hair, skin, nails etc. Stress ranges from irritation to full on fear. Listen to your body, it will tell you when you are stressed. Find time to de-stress. Find help to de-stress if necessary e.g. massage. Indian Head Massage or any head massage will improve circulation, encourage elimination which will enhance hair follicle nutrition, enhancing the strength of new growth and may speed up growth over time.

Vitamins - The hair loss prevention vitamins are vitamin A, vitamin B (including vitamin B6 and vitamin B12), vitamin E and vitamin C. Antioxidants in all forms are of benefit to the body, protecting from free radicals and what's good for the body is good for your hair.

Minerals - Calcium, Copper, Selenium, Potassium,

Protein - Necessary for strong hair and hair production - marine, animal or vegetable amino acids.
Hair is essentially made of proteins. Therefore, it is important that you include a healthy dose of proteins in your diet.  Food items rich in proteins are eggs, almonds, seafood, yogurt, soy products, etc.

Iron - It is important to note that folic acid and iron also play a vital role in healthy hair. Avoiding junk food and adhering to a healthy balanced diet will help you a great deal in your fight against hair loss and encourage hair growth.

Coconut - Moisturising, essential proteins easily assimilated, nourishing. Try applying coconut milk all over your scalp as a natural hair loss remedy.

- Comb through hair with your fingertips.
- Cover hair with a plastic shower cap or bag, and wrap a towel around it to seal in the treatment.
- Leave in for 20-30 minutes and enjoy a great book, CD or even better - just savor the peace and quiet!
- Unwrap you newly conditioned hair. Rinse, shampoo and rinse again for soft, luxurious hair!
Of course there are other fruits you can use for your hair natural treatment. But the step you do is the same like have been described above. You will have good looking hair by the time you check the Internet for more natural hair care products.

Neemthe expensive luxury brand hair oil, which uses neem leaf extract rather than neem oil, gives the same results as using straight neem oil on your hair and scalp.
Neem oil can even help with hair problems like hair loss and premature graying, where loss of hair or loss of color is caused by imbalances and health issues, rather than normal aging.
A watery extract, basically a tea made from neem leaves, is used as a rinse to prevent hair loss, and neem leaf pastes are used like conditioning packs. Those neem hair treatments soothe any irritations, prevent dryness and flaking, nourish the scalp and improve its general immunity and health. Exactly as they do for the skin on the rest of your body.

Rosemary - herbalists use rosemary to treat disorders related to the gall bladder and liver. Rosemary is also used as an antiseptic for treating flu, viruses and colds. Arthritis and rheumatism respond well with rosemary oils applied in body massages. What makes it a medicinal ingredient in shampoos is its ability to improve blood circulation when topically applied.
+ How To Make Your Own Rosemary Shampoo/Conditioner?
Here are the things you will need in preparing a rosemary shampoo: Rosemary plant, a large pot, a covered kettle made of glass or stainless steel, grapeseed oil, stainless strainer, glass container or jar. Making one basically involved distilling the rosemary essential oils from its leaves.

1. Either dried or fresh rosemary can be used to concoct a shampoo that can treat hair loss. All fresh herbs should be kept in a covered container and stored in a warm place.

2. Take out the Rosemary leaves and let them dry overnight in a container. Using less than dry Rosemary leaves can cause unwanted molds to grow with the oil distillate cloudy than clear.

3. Place the dried Rosemary leaves in a medium-sized kettle and add grapeseed oil to immerse al the rosemary leaves completely. Avoid using kettle made of aluminum of copper which could result in some chemical reactions with the Rosemary substances.

4. Place the medium-sized kettle inside or atop a larger pot of water. Then using a low heat setting, heat the large pot for 3 hours until the oil mix gets infused with rosemary. Don't overheat so as not to ruin the mixture by burning the oil.

5. Pour the oil mixture from the kettle to a clean container or glass jar using a kitchen strainer to strain the mix of impurities and debris. Store the mixture in a cool dark place and let it cool overnight.

6. When showering the next day, pour some of the rosemary oil and massage onto your hair, Rinse it with water and repeat as needed.
Besides using rosemary remedies to treat hair loss, herbal hair loss product works effectively to help its users stop male and female hair loss and enhance hair growth.
+ This method of extracting essential oils from herbs and plants are mostly transferrable, so you can experiment at home and make the perfect concoction for you... customise!

The Doctors TV Show did a show on the Latest Health Trends in 2011 and they included some hot, emerging spa treatments in what they called Trend Spa.  One of the Hair Remedies that was mentioned on The Drs TV Show was a recipe for a Caviar Hair Treatment.  Dr Andrew Ordon said that Black Caviar is great because it is full of omega 3’s – like many fish products.  Plus, olive oil and eggs are always wonderful Natural Conditioners for your hair.

Olive Oil Hair Mask Recipe from Ancient Greece

Dr Oz gave a bunch of ancient home remedies on a segment called Uncovering Buried Beauty Secrets on The Doctor Oz Show.  One of them is this Olive Oil Hair Mask Recipe, which could not be simpler!  We have spoken about using olive oil in hair masks such as in Dr Oz's South African Hair Mask and in this Hair Thickening Remedy, but the concept of using Olive Oil – the Elixir of Life – all on its own in a hair mask is a great idea for a simple hair treatment.  At the same time, you can do a nail and hand treatment by soaking your hands in a small bowl of olive oil and massage it into your nail bed.

Dr Oz Olive Oil Hair TreatmentOlive Oil Hair Mask Recipe

- a few TB of Olive Oil

Olive Oil Hair Recipe Directions

1.  Massage the olive oil into your hair and distribute it well throughout your hair.
2.  Cover your hair for 90 minutes with a shower cap, because the heat that radiates from your head will get trapped in the shower cap and really deep condition your hair.  Another great tip would be to do this treatment at the beach, because the heat from the sun will help your hair to absorb the nutrients from the oil.
3.  Wash your hair well to remove the olive oil.

* South African Hair Mask with Honey, Olive Oil and Egg Yolk

Dr Oz Beauty Secret From South AfricaDr Oz spoke about great beauty secrets from around the world with Shalini Vadhera, author of Passport to Beauty.  One of the home remedies from around the world is a South African Hair Mask made out of honey, olive oil and an egg yolk.  Shalini told Doctor Oz that honey is an amazing humectant because it grabs water and holds onto it.

Honey Hair Mask Ingredients:

- Egg Yolk;  Olive Oil;  Honey

Honey Hair Conditioner Directions:

1.  Shalini did not mention the quantities of egg yolk, olive oil, or honey to use.  By based on my personal experience, I would start with one egg yolk, 3 tsp olive oil and 1 tbsp of honey and then adjust it according to your personal preferences.
2.  Apply the Honey Hair Deep Conditioner to your hair and make sure that you distribute it well.
3.  Place a shower cap over your hair and relax for around 30 minutes.  The heat from your head will help to make the hair mask really sink into your hair.
4.  Wash your hair well.  Because of the egg yolk and olive oil, the hair mask should wash right out without a problem and you will be left with soft, shiny, gorgeous hair!

Dr Oz Cranberry Juice Shiny Hair Home Remedy in Spain

Dr Oz Cranberry Juice Hair RemedyShiny Hair Home Remedy Ingredients:

- Cranberry Juice
- Empty Spray Bottle

Shiny Hair Remedy Instructions:

Doctor Oz, along with Shalini Vadhera, author of Passport to Beauty: Secrets and Tips from Around the World for Becoming a Global Goddess, gave beauty secrets from around the world, including this home remedy from Spain for shiny and highlighted hair. Cranberry juice is a bit acidic, which adds some shininess due to the acidic pH. Fruit acids also help to lighten your hair, just like they lighten skin pigments. DO NOT use this if you have blond hair though, or your hair will turn pink – instead, use lemon juice if you have blonde hair.
1. Fill an empty spray bottle with cranberry juice.
2. Spray cranberry juice throughout your hair.
3. Lay out in the sun and you will get gorgeous highlights in your hair!

Clarifying Hair Cleanser Remedy

Baking Soda Hair RemedyClean Hair Remedy Ingredients:

- Baking Soda

Clean Hair Home Remedy Instructions:

This is a great cheap cleanser that really works wonders on natural hair. I have spent hundreds of dollars on high priced beauty products but this old cabinet staple has by far left my hair feeling the best.
1. Mix 2 tbsp of Baking Soda and 2 cups of water.
2. Pour the mixture through your hair.
3. Work through and rinse.

* Hair Thickening Remedy: Scalp Massage with Beer and Olive Oil

Dark Beer Hair Home RemedyHair Thickening Remedy Ingredients:

- 1 tsp Olive Oil
- 1 cup Dark Beer (the darker the better!!!)

Hair Thickening Home Remedy Instructions:

Olive oil is wonderful for moisturizing and conditioning super soft hair… while dark beer has long been celebrated for its ability to add body to create voluminous hair (you know… among the other things beer has been celebrated for *wink* *wink*).
1. Mix the ingredients together. I sometimes find it easiest to pour the ingredients into a jar and shake it up.
2. Pour it throughout your hair, making sure not to miss your scalp or the tips of your hair.
3. Massage your scalp well for at least 5 minutes.
4. Rinse your hair out thoroughly.

* Sweet Rosemary Hair Rinse

Rosemary Hair RemedyHair Remedy Ingredients:

- 2 to 3 TB Rosemary, Dried
- 2 cups Water

Rosemary Hair Home Remedy Instructions:

This hair treatment rinses away any buildup or leftover shampoo and conditioner, while leaving behind a delicious sweet scent for lightly fragranced hair. If you have light colored hair, use chamomile instead of rosemary.
1. Put the rosemary and water into a pot.
2. Cover the pot with a lid and bring to a boil.
3. Remove the pot from the heat as soon as it reaches a boil.
4. Let the rinse cool.
5. Use cheesecloth or a fine cylinder to remove the dried herbs.
6. After shampooing and conditioning your hair, pour this rinse through your hair.
7. Dry and style your hair.

* Hair Remedy

Hair Home RemedyHair Remedy Ingredients:

- 2 eggs, preferably organic (3 for long hair)

2. Mix everything in the bowl, and put it all over your hair (don’t forget the ends of your hair!) put on a shower cap, and let it sit in your hair for an hour. Wash your hair after one hour, and dry as usual.
Your hair will now be so soft and smooth! Do it preferably once a month. Don’t waste the egg yolk that is leftover! Use it to make Egg Yolk Conditioner or Acne Dermabrasion with EGGS!

* Bagel Head Conditioner: The Doctors TV Show did a segment on 5 Minute Fixes, and Dr Andrew Ordon showed some interesting Beauty Home Remedies, including this Bagel Head Conditioner Hair Remedy for shiny, silky, beautiful hair.  The Drs TV Show got the recipe from Kym Douglas, author of The Beauty Cookbook: 200 Recipes to Make Your Kitchen Your Spa — for Your Face, Your Body and Your Hair, which I will definitely be reading and reviewing shortly!  Why does this Bagel Hair Conditioner work?  The egg yolks have vitamin a (which helps prevent dandruff), vitamin d (which helps with hair growth), vitamin e (which increases the amount of oxygen absorbed) and b vitamins (which improve your blood circulation).  The fatty acids also help to improve your hair’s shine and to make it easier to manage.  This Hair Home Remedy is great for people with processed hair, dandruff, psoriasis, hair loss or a flaky scalp.

The Doctors TV Show Bagel Hair ConditionerIngredients:
1 egg
2 TB cream cheese
2 TB butter
2 TB water

Bagel Hair Conditioner Instructions:

1.  Mix all of your ingredients in a food processor, with a whisk, or even with an immersion blender.  You want everything well combined.
2.  Put the Bagel Hair Conditioner on your hair and distribute it evenly with a wide-toothed comb.
3.  Leave the Bagel Head Conditioner on for at least 15 minutes.
4.  Wash out the Bagel Hair Conditioner in the shower.
5.  Repeat these every week!
Natural Remedy Tip: For an extra deep conditioning hair treatment, cover your hair with a shower cap or with some plastic wrap after applying the Bagel Hair Mask, because this will trap in the heat from your head and will in turn give you a deep conditioning hair treatment.

Natural Lightening
The below natural ingredients have been known to lighten hair. You will not get a bleached effect, more so a subtle highlight change. Several applications may have to be done to notice results in your hair color.
Henna, the colorless kind can create an herbal hair bleach by mixing with  orange, lemon and cucumber juice and apply to hair.
Honey contains natural Hydrogen peroxide. Iron in honey oxidizes the oxygen free radicals released by the hydrogen peroxide.
Method for lightening hair color with Honey:
  • Mix 3/4 cup honey with 1/12 cups regular hair conditioner
  • Apply to damped hair. Wrap hair in saran wrap or a plastic shower cap.
  • Let sit for up to 8 hours, then rinse.
Chamomile is a great way to brighten dull blonde hair color. Using a chamomile rinse several times over a week or so will brighten those locks in no time!
Method for lightening hair color with Chamomile:
  • Steep 1/2 cup of the chamomile flowers in a 6 cups of boiling water for 30 minutes
  • Strain the tea, and allow to cool
  • Shampoo and condition hair as normal.
  • Tip head over bathtub or sink. Use a bowl underneath to catch the liquid. Pour the tea through towel-dried hair a few times.
  • Leave on hair for 30 minutes, then rinse with clean water.
Lemon. Who hasn't tried lemons to lighten their hair! This method works great to lighten hair color. You can use the juice from fresh lemons or an easier way is to buy the lemon juice concentrate from the store.
Methods for lightening hair color with Lemon Juice:
  • With lemons, you need heat. Best to sit in the sun or wrap hair with saran wrap then apply heat with a blowdryer. But the sun does work the best
  • Dilute the lemon juice with 3 parts juice, 1 part water.M ix in a spray bottle and apply to hair before sunning.
  • You can also add 1 tbs of Olive oil to the mixture  to combat the drying effects of the lemon juice on the hair
  • Always condition after using lemon juice to lighten the hair! Lemon juice is very drying on the hair.
How to Lighten Hair naturally with Rhubarb:
You'll need 3/4 oz. powdered rhubarb root and 4 cups water.
Directions: Simmer rhubarb root in 4 cups of water in a pot for 1 hour. Let the mixture cool, and then strain it through a sieve.
To Use: Use the strained liquid as a final rinse after washing and conditioning your hair. Pour the rinse through your hair over and over again. Catch the liquid in a bowl. Results will be a slight, warm or bright highlights in your blond or light-brown hair.

Make Your Hair Grow Faster

Tips For Growing Hair Fast; Natural Remedies That Work For Any Hair Type
Although hair loss and hair growth rates vary among people, you can assist in your hair restoration by using natural hair growth herbs, medicines, and hair care products that have proven effective for centuries.

You can also decrease your hair loss rate by avoiding hair care products that contain parabens, sulfates, silicones, and chemical preservatives.
If you don’t know where to start or how to begin, here are some hair growth and hair loss remedies that are used all around the world and come straight from Mother Earth.

Ancient Indian Herbal Hair Solution
Indiagrow hair faster recipes To stimulate hair growth, individuals used boiled sage leaves in coconut oil and applied the oil to their hair and scalps. Also, they used fenugreek powder mixed in coconut oil or milk as a hair growth shampoo. Lastly, amla oil was used as a hair stimulator. Amla oil was mixed with coconut oil and used to moisturize the scalp.

Africans used olive oil on both their scalps and hair to stimulate hair growth.
Egypt The Egyptians employed several natural nutrients to stimulate hair growth. For example, the Egyptians applied chopped lettuce leaves to their bald spots. They also massaged their scalps with castor and almond oil.
South America
In the Amazon, the Taiwano Indians treated scalp problems with heated extract of bananas.
Victorian America
Hair loss was combated by applying a mixture of glycerin, rosemary oil, and distilled water

One of the treatments the Morocco women use is argan oil, which comes from a tree. The emollient isn’t greasy but makes the hair and skin feel and look shiny and gives a luminous glow.
Italian women use castor oil to obtain long, thick eyelashes

In Thailand women adore coconut milk and use it for cooking, to mix with cocktails and in exotic desserts. Thai women also use coconut milk in warm baths, moisturizing skin treatments and on their hair.

Avocado oil is credited and used for controlling unruly fly-away hair.

In Belgium these beauties swear by a cold beer brew as a great drink and one they wear also. They use the beer for a final hair rinse which makes bouncy hair that behaves.

Home Remedy for Hair Loss - Natural Remedies and Treatments

Hair loss is a big problem for millions of people around the world. It seems that every day, stresses can just get to people’s hair and the next thing you know, it’s falling out.

A note about Home Remedy for Hair Loss - Natural Remedies and Treatments

In natural health and healing or holistic health and healing, it is recognised that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. It is also believed that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases.
In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox, rest, exercise and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. No matter how remote or unrelated a health condition may seem, these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of specific natural health remedies.
Whether it is something you see or something that your mirror tells you every day, this can be seriously damaging to self esteem and overall emotional health. Hair loss is no joke.
All around the world, though, there are home remedies for hair loss that do actually work. These are home remedies that use a natural approach to hair loss, and may help to stop and in some cases even reverse the effects of hair loss and balding.
  • Consider using Amla oil on your hair and scalp for a quick and easyhome remedy for hair loss. Boil dry pieces of Amla in coconut oil and apply to the hair and scalp.
  • Another effective treatment for hair loss is to grind up lime seeds and mix them with black pepper in a small amount of water. Apply to the scalp daily.
  • Mix aloe vera gel with the herbal powder triphala and apply to the scalp and hair for about three to six months. This home remedy for hair loss is said to help re-grow hair and prevent any future hair loss.
  • Another home remedy for hair loss is to mix coconut oil and lime juice, and to apply it to the hair daily to prevent hair loss.
  • For women who are suffering from hair loss, part of the problem may be a reduction in the amount of estrogen in their body. Hormones, whether you know it or not, can greatly affect our hair growth patterns, and this fact should be considered. While there are options such as hormone replacement therapy when a woman is suffering from a reduction in their body’s estrogen level, it’s always better to seek more natural solutions to these problems.
Women should consider looking into natural herbal treatments to reduce the overall effects of losing estrogen. These may or may not help to remedy hair loss, so there other very effective home remedies for hair loss that you can try.
  • It has long been said that if you are losing hair, you should only wash it rarely and do so with a gentle, natural shampoo. This will help to lower the amount of hair that is lost on a daily basis. This is a simple home remedy for hair loss.
  • It is also important to brush the hair as little as possible, as this can cause pulling and breaking. Another factor that can cause breaking and weakening of the hair is any kind of hair tie. If you must put your hair up, use a clip, and only for a short while.
  • Give yourself a scalp massage daily after running water on it for about 10 to 15 minutes, or until your head begins to feel hot. This will stimulate good circulation and can not only prevent additional hair loss, but can also help to re-grow hair.
  • Make a mixture of honey and egg yolk and rub it into the hair and scalp. Leave it in for about 30 minutes, then rinse; this is another simple home remedy for hair loss.
For women, it’s about strengthening the hair you do have in order to prevent further damage and, ultimately, hair loss. It’s important to remember that all of us lose a certain amount of hair daily.
Also, people with lighter hair tend to lose more hair than people with darker hair, because they have more individual strands of hair. This doesn’t always mean that you are losing your hair, but you should always take steps to prevent hair loss.
Natural remedies to prevent hair loss such as those mentioned above have been used for hundreds of years by men and women alike. As more and more people discover the harmful chemicals that are put into mainstream hair care products, these home remedies are making a comeback. The reason for this is that they really do work.

1. Hair is essentially made of proteins. Therefore, it is important that you include a healthy dose of proteins in your diet. Food items rich in proteins are eggs, almonds, seafood, yogurt, soy products, etc. The hair loss prevention vitamins are vitamin A, vitamin B (including vitamin B6 and vitamin B12), vitamin E and vitamin C. It is important to note that folic acid and iron also play a vital role in healthy hair. Throwing away junk food will help you a great deal in your fight against hair loss.
2. A paste of two well-mashed bananas and beaten curd applied to the hair and scalp can greatly reinvigorate dry hair. Make sure the paste coats the ends of the hair and is left onto the scalp for 15 minutes. Shampoo and rinse your hair clean of the paste for soft lustrous hair.
3. Try applying coconut milk all over your scalp as a natural hair loss remedy. For a change, crush black pepper and lime seeds in equal measure in a little bit of water, and put it everyday on your scalp. It is effective as a home based natural hair loss remedy.
4. You might want to try chinese herbal remedies to remedy your problem. Go to a Chinese medicine shop and seek the advice of the herbalist there. They will most likely recommend a herb called he shou wu. The scientific name for the plant is Polygonium multiflorium. It helps the body's kidney and liver function. By so doing, it improves your blood's nutritious quality, thereby benefiting your head's scalp and hair roots.
5. If you are facing hair loss problems, you may need to find out the correct hair loss prevention shampoo to arrest hair loss. With 'find out' I mean you will have to check which shampoo suits your hair the best.
6. The gel within the aloe vera plant can be used not only to cure hair dryness but can fight hair loss as well. After shampooing your hair, liberal application of fresh aloe vera to the scalp will stimulate hair growth and nourish dry hair. Drinking aloe vera juice also helps to flush out the body and stimulate healthy hair from within.
7. Wash your hair with cooked black gram dal and fenugreek paste for lengthening your hair. Paste made of red gram or pigeon pea is applied for treating balding or hair loss conditions. You may also use castor oil in your hair. Prepare a good paste from honey, hot olive oil and cinnamon and apply it on your scalp leaving it for 15 minutes.
All the best in finding a home remedy for hair loss and baldness which works for you.

Natural Products by Brands for Ease and Convenience
Many Brands have much higher concentrated rare or hard to come by ingredients, which give them the edge on many home made recipes. If you are not up to mixing your own hair growth potions, have no fear. You don’t have to give up and purchase a hormone based, chemical loaded hair growth product.

There are a few natural hair care companies that now make hair growth products containing these effective, all natural hair loss ingredients. One popular company is Beauty 4 Ashes Christian Health & Beauty Co., who have recently updated its hair growth products to contain olive, castor, fenugreek, amla, coconut, and many other proven hair loss herbs and nutrients.
Many brands unfortunately include sulphates to create a foam in their cleansers, so look out for these... check the ingredients.
